The internship program was an amazing journey that helped me confirm my desire to pursue full-time missions. It was a time of personal growth, relationship building and fun!

For me being an intern at the jungle hospital afforded me the privilege of not only serving the undeserved but also of being able to learn from some of the most godly hard working and knowledgeable missionaries there are.  The staff at the Jungle Hospital is so diverse in their personalities, skills, and experiences that it is impossible not learn something new from each of them every day.  While in Honduras I learned a lot about medicine, how to practice medicine in the jungle and how to use it as a ministry tool.  I also learned a ton about missions and the how mission organizations work, I guess living with a bunch of full time missionaries will do that.  Outside of the clinic I learned a bit about construction (specifically how important a proper lunch break is…thanks mark) and how to serve the short term missions teams that came to serve at the Jungle Hospital.  Outside of these more practical skills I believe that my time in Honduras was a time where God spoke to me and where I was able to learn how to be a better Christian through my experiences.  I cannot say enough about the full time staff at the Jungle Hospital, everyone of them displays the heart of a servant so well but through different personalities and being able to see that everyday and try to follow their example was one of the best spiritually growing opportunities of my life.  Some may say its too hot, or too much work or complain about the food but  to me there is no greater place to learn about missions while serving those who Jesus spoke about in Matthew 25.  I encourage anyone who decides to become an intern to go with an attitude of complete humility and be ready to serve in any capacity asked of you, if you do this there is no limit to what God can do through you while you are in Honduras.

It was one of the most challenging and fulfilling summers I’ve ever had and it put me on the right trajectory for a career in medicine. Certainly a worthwhile endeavor!

I spent the summer before leaving for college at the jungle hospital, and nothing could have been more worthwhile. Every day in Honduras was a stretch. To undertake an internship with HHG is to consent to a summer of reliance on God and on your team. It is an agreement to operate outside of your comfort zone on a consistent basis. It is also an opportunity to hone in on God’s voice, and to experience immense comradery with those that you serve, and those that you serve alongside. You will leave – reluctantly – having found that the country and people of Honduras, as well as the HHG staff have permanently endeared themselves to you.

The Jungle Hospital Internship was the best experience I have ever had! I discovered what it meant to rely on God in every area of my life and how to walk with him daily. I formed amazing friendships that will last a lifetime and I learned so much about myself and the calling God has for my life. Being a part of the 2014 J-Team was easily the best decision I have ever made!

Last summer is a summer I will always cherish and remember. I grew so much as a follower of Christ. I learned first hand what it means to seek God’s Will and follow it with reckless abandon. I was challenged and uplifted more than ever. God confirmed and fired up my passion more than ever to pursue the career as a medical missionary. I can’t wait to go back and serve as a physician.

The internship with the Jungle Hospital gives you a safe and educational understanding of how missions can work in your own life.

Being able to travel to the different villages to see where the patients lived, and to take the medical care and supplies to them really sets the Jungle Hospital apart. Medical brigades were the main time where I had the chance to talk with patients about their home, their family, and life in general.
