We have had the privilege of mentoring missions interns since the Fall of 2007. Every year we strive to provide an incredible Christ-centered missions training experience that is designed to help interns identify whether or not they are called into a missions career. The program continues to grow and develop as we learn from our interns and other internship directors.
We have decided to start a new blog series entitled “Where Are They Now?” to let you in on the incredible things God is doing in the lives of our former interns. We hope you enjoy reading these updates and are as excited about their progress as we are. The world is a very big place and we need as many people out there as possible spreading the love of Christ.
It has been an incredible 6 years since our first class of interns. God has done so much here at the Jungle Hospital so we feel sure that He has been just as active in the lives of our first three interns.
Allison, Claire and Heather
Where are they Now?
After returning from Honduras, Allison completed 4 years of podiatry school and married Joel Dozeman, who had been involved with vocational education in Nicaragua for 5 years. They are currently enjoying life in Portland, OR, where Allison is in her first of three years at the Legacy-Kaiser Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program. They hope to remain involved by sharing in the work and lives of God’s people in Central America.
Claire will finish medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana May of 2014. She plans to match in Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery next year. Currently, Claire lives in New Orleans but hopes to continue to use medicine around the world as a demonstration of the love of the Healer through physical and spiritual healing!
After completing a 10-month internship with HHGlobal, Heather felt called to extend her time of service at the Jungle Hospital to help develop the HHGlobal health systems model. After three months of fundraising, she returned to Honduras with a 5 year commitment to the ministry. She was married to Mark Younger in July of 2010, and they currently serve together in Rio Viejo with the Jungle Hospital Staff. They welcomed the youngest member of their team, William Cole, in November of 2012.
