Lee University – Summer of Medical Missions

This June, we hosted one of our favorite returning teams: Lee University! After seven years of serving with their teachers and science students, we have come to love the two weeks each summer that we spend going on hikes and hosting medical brigades with them. This summer, Dr. Keven Bowdle returned and had dental brigades for a week with us, teaching the students and traveling with us to the many villages we visited with his mobile dental station. We also had Dr. Brown come with his eyeglass station and supply eyeglasses for a week, careful to train someone to take over his station for the next week of brigades.

Not only was this team full of energy and enthusiasm, but their servanthood knew no limits as they climbed mountains—literally—to get to the people they came to serve! Trip coordinator and faculty member, Mrs. Jo Beth Boyer, has continued to bring us the cream of the crop from her brilliant students in the science department who are eager to learn more about rural medicine and medical missions here in Honduras.

Lee University has consistently remained one of our biggest contributors to our pharmacy inventory each year, as they donate many of our medicines when they come each year—sometimes even helping us to count the pills and add them into our inventory system! We’re so thankful for the relationships we’ve been able to build at Lee with the staff and many of the students over the years.
