e welcomed a visit from City Hope with enthusiasm this March, eager to show them a well-rounded view of HHG’s various types of ministries. When the City Hope team landed in San Pedro Sula, we stayed overnight in a hotel so that the following morning, we could visit the City Hope Church based in that same city. After a joyful morning celebrating in Spanish with their home church, we traveled the long ride home to Rio Viejo to some hot food and a brief orientation. On Monday, we had medical consult at our clinic, then the next day traveled out to Urraco, Japon for blitz school visits. We also visited GiveHope2Kids in Urraco for a combination of a school blitz visit and a medical brigade that same Tuesday. On Wednesday, they helped teach English at the high school Instituto El Rey across the street, and enjoyed their “fun day” of souvenir shopping in the city that same afternoon. Thursday included some hiking to Los Pirineos for a brigade, with a quick stop in Nueva Suyapa for another school visit.
In total, we reached 456 people this week with City Hope Church’s team and visited 4 major villages during the week. With their medical brigades in Rio Viejo, Urraco, and Los Pirineos, they saw 195 patients. Without even staying a full week, but instead visiting from Saturday to Friday, City Hope made an impact and loved on so many people and school kids in their short visit. We hope to see them come back to Honduras many times and continue with their hearts for service and missions.
