Our Family

The Williams Family

Wendy, Samuel, Rachel, & Dr. Martin

Our family has been serving in Honduras since 1994.  The formative years in ministry were mentored by Jack & Shirley Dyer, whom the hospital in Rio Viejo is named after. Those first five years were fundamental in forming our understanding of the culture around us, and laid the foundation for our future ministry. God had given the Dyers a vision to build a medical clinic to serve the people of the Cangrejal River Cove. Once our eyes were opened to the great need of the nearly 20,000 forgotten people of the mountains, their vision was planted in our hearts. In 1999, our family moved to the capital city of Tegucigalpa for Martin to attend medical school. After 5 years of academics, one year of internship in the government operated hospital in La Ceiba, and one year of social service in the remote village of Las Minas, we celebrated the completion of Martin’s medical degree. In 2006, our family moved to Rio Viejo and began the huge undertaking of preparing the hospital to receive its first patients. We continue to call Rio Viejo home and love the work that God has called us to do at the area.
