Last year marked a huge milestone for the Jungle Hospital as we partnered with Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This April we received two pediatric residents, Dr. Alma Cruz and Dr. Rebekah Dickman, for a few well spent weeks in the jungle. During their stay at the Jungle Hospital, they were able to provide the kids at Give Hope to Kids Children’s Home with well-checks, and were a vital part in our mobile medical clinics.
During the month of April, our MVP (Most Valuable Practitioner), returned to fill in as Dr. Martin and Wendy were away. Our interns and residents eagerly learned from his many years of experience as a physician and his knowledge of serving in the third world. We are always thankful for Dr. Trey Melker’s heart to serve and willingness to step in whenever he is needed.
We also welcomed back Lincoln Memorial University for their second year as they brought a group of PA students to serve during their spring break. With their help, we were able to provide medical attention to four different villages. Their desire to learn was so obvious and it made our week with them unforgettable!
