Good Friends and Divine Connections

Dave and Cindy.

We have been so blessed this year in being able to spend time with good friends and make some new divine connections. This Christmas our friends Dave and Cindy Sharpless came to visit us for the holidays, and of course we put them straight to work! We didn’t have to twist their arms too hard because they were ready and willing to serve in any way possible. With their help and expertise we were able to complete the electrical wiring in the entire dorm! That’s right; from electrical outlets to ceiling fans, we are wired!

Since they were here during the Christmas holidays we decided to do something we never do – take a vacation! We rented a van, loaded up the family, Dave and Cindy and our new interns and blazed a trail to all the way to Copan, Honduras.

On the way we decided to stop and visit some new friends in El Progresso, Pastor David and Candy Beebe. This is an amazing couple that came to serve in Honduras for 6 months at an outpatient medical clinic, the Andrew Clinic, in between La Ceiba and San Pedro Sula. Our intern, Heather, met Pastor David at her church in Baton Rouge just before she left for Honduras, and through this relationship God has begun to open doors that we never even knew existed. We are now building a relationship with the Beebe’s and the Andrew Clinic, and we believe that the Lord has something big planned for us all.

It turns out that Pastor David and Candy were planning to go to Copan the same weekend, so we all met up in the city and spent time getting to know each other. The whole group of us toured the Mayan Ruins and sampled food and many local restaurants, all the while taking notes of things to do with the Canadian high school team scheduled to arrive in February.
What an incredible way to end 2008 and bring in the New Year. Our hearts are soaring with the possibilities God has for our future and we pray that He will guide us as we walk out every day of our lives for Him.
