Sweet Home Alabama

(copied from old blog. entry dated: 6/14/2007 8:02:00 PM)
We are near Loxley Alabama and guess what? we are having a great time. We realize that time is getting by- it has been two and a half months that we have been traveling these American roads. We are logging more than 1,000 miles per week and on some weekends we visit a church on Sunday morning and drive frantically to another for the evening service. This is our method to try to expand our support and expose as many people as possible to our work. Just recently we covered 4 States in less than 3 days!!!! We drove through Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Indiana. While we were in Memphis, TN at South Point Church we met Curt Middleton, a newspaper editor. Curt interviewed us via telephone recently and the Jungle Hospital’s equipment needs will be made public in an informative newspaper column, so stay tuned!
We also visited with our dear friends, Preston and Inez Sapp from Fayette, TN. Preston just underwent by-pass surgery and within a few short days post-op is showing what he is made of. He is home recovering. I can think of no better person to nurse him to victory than his beautiful wife Inez. They are both such great examples of steadfastness and faithfulness, we are taking notice of this and trying to emulate it.

Just a few days after Samuel celebrated his 15th birthday he began working his first real job.  He is working the next few weeks with Wendy’s sister at a local gas station/convenience store.  He has worked so hard this week and we are so proud of him.  He is saving money for youth camp in July and for a computer of his own.  When he has a goal in sight he is unstoppable!  Rachel has now began her own business and will do odd jobs around the house for a thrifty price, these are sure signs that our babies are growing up.

We are looking forward to the rest of June’s activities and in July we hope to be in Orlando Florida at my parents’ place. There we plan on some vacation time. Perhaps then we will be shipping whatever is gathered for the hospital. There is a shipping company that leaves Tampa and will deliver in Honduras for a modest price.

God is so awesome, He is moving during the church services and even afterwords. He moves in the hearts of people in the US as they are made aware of the physical, social and spiritual needs of our Honduran brothers and sisters. Oftentimes we are approached by healthcare workers (like nurses and doctors) that would like to visit us there  to minister. If you are reading this blog and feel like you can help, (you don’t have to be fluent in Spanish, we will help with translators) please feel free to contact us and ask questions. The people you will help are among Jesus’ “… least of these.” They are women and children, some are orphaned, most are poor.  Jesus said when you help these you will be helping Jesus Himself. We hear some say, “… we want to see Jesus”, well you will see Him in the faces of these little ones. Others say, “… we want to minister unto the Lord”, then minister unto these. The fields are truly white for harvest, His word does not return void in the Third World. In Honduras when you preach, with words or actions, people are added to God’s Kingdom. We see the signs that Jesus mentions, “…when you lay hands on them, they will recover.” Sometimes all we have to offer is a fervent prayer for a sick individual. We don’t have much equipment just yet, all we have is two army cots and 3 plastic chairs, and our medicines are limited in scope and quantities. But God not only hears these prayers, He answers them.
