We have so many big things going on here in the Jungle as the Lord continues to bless this ministry and expand our influence. Here’s an update on all the things that have happened and will continue to happen with your support here in Rio Viejo!
Let’s start by taking a look at everything that’s already been accomplished so far. Construction on houses one, two, three, and duplexes one and two have been completed and we couldn’t be more excited! All 7 houses have roofs and doors, and houses 1, 2, and 3 have light fixtures and fans. Tile work is being finished up in the duplexes and our woodworker is in the process of making the cabinets for the kitchen areas. Right now, we are nearing the end of construction on the wall that will go around the second piece of property. This second section will house the Children’s Center, a multi-unit residence, and the Shop. It seems that every time we turn around more buildings are completed, more roofs are raised, and more finishing touches are being put on. This is truly such an exciting process, and we are so grateful for your partnership in the Lord’s plan for our mountain.
As we relish in the accomplishments of 2022, we look forward to our plans for 2023. Our biggest project: replacing the hospital roof. The roof on our hospital is almost 20 years old and is nearing the end of its life. Much of the substructure is made of wood, which has been compromised by termite damage throughout the years. Because we’re always looking to maximize our funds and resources, we will be adding a partial second floor to the center section of our hospital while replacing the roof. Additionally, we will be updating the drop ceiling and windows of the hospital. Firefighters For Christ are scheduled to come help us with the demolition and a combination of volunteers from Celebration Church, City Hope Church, and St. Amant are scheduled to come “raise the roof”. We are so grateful for people and organizations who want to partner with us in making the vision the Lord has put in our hearts come true! We ask for your prayers for wisdom and safety as we tackle this huge project.
Replacing the roof is just the beginning of our expansion goals for 2023. We will begin construction of the “Quad”– a group of four one-bedroom apartments to house long-term singles or couples. Additionally, we will begin building a center for children in grades 1-6. Here they will partake in a warm meal and participate in an after-school tutoring program.
It is such an honor to get to steward the things the Lord has given us, and we are grateful to everyone who has supported us throughout the expansion project.
