Here we go again! Our first team of the season was a medical group from River Valley along with two dentists and their families. River Valley Church always sends an amazing group with so many different specialties represented: Obstetrics & Gynecology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Urology, Dentistry, and Nursing. With these powers combined, we are able to provide much needed medical care to those in our area of the Cuenca Cangrejal.
The first day we had clinic here in Rio Viejo and then the group went over to the school across the street, IER. It’s such a treat for our teams to visit that school because they get to see another ministry that has been invested in the community for so long. They also get to see firsthand how different ministries are working together for holistic care of the people.
During one of our medical brigades, one of the patients seen had a mass on her knee. Thankfully we had a surgeon, Dr. Hansen, and a surgical PA, Max Lundeen, that were able to remove it! It was great to be able to see a small glimpse of what our surgical future here at the hospital could look like.
Dr. Nathan Mork and his daughter came down the week before the team got here and Dr. Brad and his family were able to come down for the whole two weeks- what a gift! These dentists came fully prepared to work long hours. We especially love when dentists come down because they are so needed! They always have the longest line and often have to limit the number of patients they can see.
We are so grateful the River Valley team consistently comes prepared with smiles and ready to serve. It’s such a blessing to have had them as our first medical group of the season! Many from the team return year after year and it’s such a blessing to become family and serve together.
