This April we were blessed to be able to host another conference for the teachers in our area. A combined group from City Hope Church (Daphne, AL) and the Church at Addis (Addis, LA) came to help us host the conference that benefitted nearly 100 teachers. The team sent down so many school supplies and items before the conference to prepare gift bags and door prizes. Our long term staff unboxed everything and organized it so that the team could package them upon arrival.
Tuesday and Wednesday we hosted around 50 teachers each day. These teachers were from La Ceiba all the way up the Cuenca. The department of education made it mandatory for teachers to attend the conference this year. We had several administrators from the education department attend as well. There were several different sessions for the teachers with topics like how to manage your classroom and how to teach a math lesson. The presentations were also centered around the gospel and speaking worth and identity into the teachers. We provided a morning snack for them and then had lunch for them as well. Throughout the day we would give away door prizes and then at the end of the day we would give away gifts to every teacher. There would be some items for their classroom as well as personal items. The teachers were so moved and appreciative of everything that was done for them.
On Thursday we were able to go into a couple of villages and provide vitamins and antiparasitic medication to the kids at the schools. We also did some fun educational songs about hand washing and brushing their teeth. It was great to get out into the communities and it gave the team another glimpse of ministry here on the mountain.
It was a very successful week and was extra special because we were able to hold the conference in the NEW second floor of the hospital and use that space for the very first time! God is so good!
