Tropical storm Sara hit the northern coast of Honduras on November 14, 2024 dropping 41 inches of rain in two days! The river overflowed its banks and came rushing through the village of Rio Viejo causing extensive damage to our infrastructure as land eroded and fences fell. One of the duplexes at our new family housing collapsed into the rushing water along with our bridge as our small creek became a raging river. The new children’s center was flooded and filled with mud and debris, but miraculously stood strong! The mountain road was impassable for almost a month, electricity was out for weeks, but the hospital was untouched and patient services continued for those who were able to reach us. For the nine families who lost their homes in the village, we were able to fill bags with clothes, shoes, and toiletries from the donations that our visiting teams so generously provide. We were also able to serve as a base for relief efforts for local organizations distributing food. Though there was much devastation, we saw God’s goodness, His hand of protection, and His provision. GOD IS FAITHFUL!
